Travel to Russia - The Best Destinations

This may sound trivially, but Moscow is probably the best destination.
Apart from the city itself, there are many different destinations to visit around the city.
The Golden Ring - a dozen of small towns, which reflect Russian medieval history, have their musuems, churches.
The forests in the vicinity of Moscow, are most typical for European part of Russia.
As well, within a night in train you have St. Petersburg, Kazan - the capital of the Tatar republic. Tatars are a quite different people, they fought wars against Russia for ages.
A night in a train - and you may reach the capital of Karelia - Petrozavdosk, a city located in the forests, which are, however, somewhat different. This can be regarded as the Russian "North".
And with a night train you may also reach Kiev - the capital of the Ukraine, one of the centers of medieval East Slavic culture.
To say nothing about different destinations, which a close to Moscow, as well...

Dmitry-
Thank you for your post. Yes, Mocow (Moskva) is a very beautiful and historic city. I am visiting there with my family later this summer and I always love to see Red Square -especially at night. For you music lovers I have posted a link to the contemporary song "moscow never sleeps" with beautiful photography of Moscow and the less contemporary song "Moscow Nights" also with nice photography.
Dmitry- Please feel free to help us out by writing a city guide with more helpful information and links for our readers.
